Why the Casino Player Development Team Serves As the Heartbeat of the Casino

The Casino player development team has always been and remains the heartbeat of the Casino. It is this team consisting of the director, host manager, executive hosts, Casino hosts, slot hosts and player development reps that cater to the players who produce the most revenue for the casino. This is the instrumental group that is most often at the forefront when the player first arrives on property and throughout their stay at the property. It is the many faces of the PD team that many guests will repeatedly verify makes them feel the most "wanted" and "valued". And feeling wanted and valued is instrumental in developing loyalty from the guest.

The casino player development organization must be a well-oiled team that has systems and programs in place that provides the guest with an experience that is seamless and flawless. From the moment the guest calls in and Books a room to the time they get in the limo to return to the airport, the player development team must not skip a beat. No "T" can go uncrossed and no "I" can go un-dotted. It is the most simple details that must be checked and double checked to insure that the guest has an experience that is not just pleasing, but most importantly, extraordinary.

This team of executives must be led by a dynamic leader, most often the player development director, who understands not only the importance of having a systematic, analytic method for tracking the performance of the department, but also the intricacies and delicacies of servicing players in a way that is personal and efficient, yet fun and lively. This director must have the capability of putting themselves in the position of the general manager who must account for all the dollars being spent to recruit and retain the high roller and yet, they must also understand the position of the host who has to face the player and serve as the representative of the casino who's loyalties must at least appear to lie with the player even though the casino is actually the employer of the host. It is a fine line to walk for any and all player development executives. And as the casinos become more cost-conscious, this line does not become easier, but rather tougher.

Nonetheless, the group of player development folks is inevitably the most personable and noticeable of any of the employees at the casino property. They are the ones who love what they do so much that they are willing to answer their phones 24/7 just to make certain that a player never goes unnoticed or unappreciated and always has someone to call about any desire or demand they wish to be fulfilled.

It is the casino player development team that truly does serve as the heartbeat of the casino. They are in the middle of the action, whether it be the VIP Party, the sporting event, or the hot action on the casino floor. They constantly strive to maintain the loyalty of their current players while relentlessly seeking new players as well. They are known by name more than any other employee on the property. It is these loyal casino employees who make the casino a place high rollers wish to be.

Casino Tokens and Chips

Casino chips are small discs that are used as currency within Casinos. Casino chips are made of either coloured metal, compression moulded clay or injection moulded plastic. Metal chips are primarily used in slot machines whilst clay or plastic chips are used in table games.

Casino chips can be acquired by exchanging money for them at the casino cage, at the tables, e.g. the roulette table or at the cashier station. The casino chips generally have no value outside of the casino, although in Las Vegas some casinos might honour chips from other casinos, or some businesses - such as waiters or taxi's, especially for tips, in gambling towns might honour them informally.

Casino chips were employed for several reasons, the main one's being chips are more convenient to use than currency and also make theft and counterfeiting more difficult. Because of the size, regularity and colouring patterns of stacks of chips they are easier to count in stacks compared to paper currency when being used on a table. The main advantage of this is that it's easier for the pit boss or security to verify the amount being paid, reducing mistakes by the dealer. Furthermore it is observed that customers gamble more freely with replacement currencies than with cash.

Many casinos have stopped the use of metal chips (and coins) in their slot machines in favour of pre-pay cards or paper receipts. Although these methods are costly to implement they eliminate coin handling expenses and jamming problems in machines that took coins. With the coin mechanisms removed from the slot / fruit machine there is more space to keep game specific technology, enhancing the users overall gaming experience.

The hobby of collecting casino chips and gaming tokens is becoming increasingly popular, with a collectors club being formed in 1988. Some casino chips are worth up to $100,000. Several casinos sell custom-made sets of chips and one or two decks of cards stamped with the name of the casino on them.

Despite the fact gambling houses were legalised in Venice in 1626 actual Poker chips was not used for over two hundred years. Back in the 19th century and prior, Poker players seemed to use any small valuable object imaginable. Early Poker players sometimes used jagged gold pieces, gold nuggets, gold dust, or coins as well as "chips" primarily made of ivory, bone, wood, paper and a composition made from clay and shellac.

Each casino has its own unique set of chips; this is even if the casino is part of a larger company that owns many casinos. This distinguishes the casinos chips from the others; this is because each casino chip on the casino floor has to be backed up with the appropriate amount of cash.

Host A Casino Night Fundraiser

Putting together a charity fundraising event like a Casino Night Fundraiser can be a lot of work unless you're well organized. Events like these often include live entertainment, a catered dinner, live and silent auctions, sponsorships, ticket sales, tax deductible donations, and a host of other details that require plenty of advance planning.

The plus side is that a Casino Night is a great excuse for adults to get all dressed up and have a fun time, so turnouts are impressive. There are lots of charitable groups who need to raise large amounts of operating funds and these events really deliver if done well.

Getting started
You need a strong crew of volunteers with a passion for getting things done. Group the tasks by category and divide them up by skill set of your volunteers. It's best to have them work singly or in pairs, partnering veterans with newcomers. Having too many people assigned to a task just slows it down.

The only exception to that rule is in seeking donations of auction items. Have everyone call or better yet, visit their contacts to ask for their help with donated products or services. Seek out things with a true "Wow" factor to generate a strong buzz of excitement around your auctions.

For your games of chance, contact party supply and equipment rental firms. In major metropolitan areas, there are also companies that specialize in supplying this equipment and many even supply staff to run the games, deal the cards, etc.

Make sure you have all permits well ahead of time. Some jurisdictions have special restrictions on gambling-related activities even when they are for charity and don't involve cash winnings, so research this carefully.

Raising funds
A Casino Night fundraiser offers dozens of ways to raise funds for charity, including silent auctions, live auctions, raffles, Poker tournaments, individual sponsorships, corporate sponsorships, cash bar, gourmet catered dinner, and ticket sales.

Set your ticket prices high enough to cover all your expenses. In some instances, a high-dollar ticket price makes the event exclusive and will help attract a wealthy roster of supporters.

You can price tickets differently for those who might not want a catered dinner or gambling chips included. Some people won't and you do want as many people as possible attending and bidding on your auction items.

To boost ticket sales to a black-tie affair, you'll want your meal catered by a trendy restaurant that has a certain cachet. God press coverage mentioning society and celebrity attendees will also help sell out your fundraiser.

Publicity
Besides publicizing your Casino Night fundraising event in your newsletter, by email, and through word of mouth, to get a big turnout, you have to get media coverage.

Put together a press release summarizing the highlights of the evening and emphasize why you are raising funds. Include details on the entertainment, the sponsors, prominent attendees, your best auction items, etc.

Include full contact information as well as the obvious information such as place, date, and time. Send it to all the major media outlets in your marketplace well ahead of your fundraiser. Include a group photo such as the organizing committee or your group's board of directors.

Summary
A Casino Night is a great way to raise funds for your cause because it gives people an excuse to dress up and have fun. Sure it's a lot of work pulling it all together, but the results are well worth it.

This type of event offers multiple ways to raise funds and is easy to promote. It also lends itself well to becoming an annual tradition. Plan everything in detail, divide the tasks, solicit auction items and corporate sponsorships, and have dinner catered.

Las Vegas Casino Reviews

Las Vegas Casinos are places where you can unwind and enjoy yourself. Different Casinos will offer you different styles of entertainment, gambling of course being the common theme. The excitement of live gaming, high-class dining, comfortable accommodations, state-of-the-art slots, electronic keno and video Poker machines - everything will be in place in most of the joints to ensure you enjoy your trip there (even if you lose money).

You should never forget that it's the job of the Casinos to make money at your cost. So it's wise to set yourself a limit. You may not succeed in sticking to it, but to try that will do you no harm. The blackjack and roulette tables can ruin your holiday. If you gamble a few rounds you may win a few bucks, but try a little longer and it's all gone. Leave the long sessions to the people who go to Vegas just for the gambling. Remember, the Casinos pay for Las Vegas. So some people win but most of them end up on the losing side.

Better avoid casinos that don't have a hotel attached to them. Most of these joints will try to aggressively lure you in and take you for a ride. It is wise go into any hotel/casino in town and gamble because your odds are a lot better in a hotel/casino.

So take a little money, go have fun, enjoy the free drinks, and go home with ease in knowing you'll have enough money to live another day.

You might well lose some money, but the experience and the fun of losing will perhaps leave you richer.
